End of Year Activities and Celebrations
Well,
it may be time to start winding down the school
year, but the month of May will be packed full of
fun activities! Be sure to write all these dates on
your calendar for reference.
April was so much fun with growing and releasing
butterflies and ladybugs, participating in Easter
Egg hunts, and enjoying a beautiful day at the park
with yummy food and great friends! The garage sale
was a huge success thanks to our chairwoman,
Stephanie Link and her awesome committee of Debra
Mason, Amanda Craig, Jennifer Zavala, Shelley
Spencer, Alyson Desha, Rory Tyson, Trina Walter, Kay
Cobb, Evelyn and Mackenzie Vance, Margaret Cromwell,
Richard Diane, and Nicole Colangelo, Becky Wills,
Judy Granger, Patty Holliday, Connor Link, Kaden
Herbert, Katie Harris, Cathy Burrow, Wendy Graber,
Amy Norton, Sharon Verlander, Amy and David
Phillips, and Brad Currier. As you can see, it takes
many hands to pull off a garage sale of this size,
and this year we made more than $3000 which will
help support our scholarship fund. Thanks everyone!
On Thursday, May 6th, be sure to stop by
Schlotzsky’s Deli here in Georgetown for lunch
and/or dinner. The preschool will receive $0.50 for
every sandwich sold on that day! Thanks for setting
this up for us, Rachael Haynes!
Parent Surveys
Registration is currently underway and will continue
until all spots are filled. This summer some of the
staff will be attending a 3-day preschool conference
in Dallas and others will be attending the early
childhood conference at Christ Lutheran. We always
learn so much valuable information on ways to
improve our teaching skills and our program.
However, I also treasure parents’ input on ways to
improve the preschool. Please complete this
survey
and return it to the orange “SURVEYS” box located
outside the office by May 19. The questions will
just take a few minutes of your time, but the
information we receive from the survey will be
invaluable. Thanks in advance for your help.
End of Year Program
Our
Graduation and End of Year Program will be on
Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary.
We will have the nursery available for younger
siblings. If you need the nursery, please complete
this
form at the back of this newsletter and turn it
in to Ginny as soon as possible. All of our
preschoolers will have a singing part, and then the
four-year old classes will receive their diplomas
and medals. I hope everyone will be able to attend
this very special time with us, and we will have
cake and punch after the ceremony in the Parish
Hall.
Parent Volunteer Appreciation
In
order to thank all of our wonderful Parent
Volunteers for everything they have done for us, for
the children, and for the school this year, we are
hosting a special Parent Volunteer Appreciation
Breakfast on Thursday, May 13th after drop-off in
Room 18. If you volunteered at GEP in any capacity
this year, please join us for fellowship and
refreshments provided by all of the staff to thank
you for a job well done!
ODDS &
ENDS
Teacher In-service will be on
Tuesday, May 25 if you left anything at the school,
we will be here that day. Be sure to check the Lost
& Found before you leave for summer break.
Mud Day
Mark your calendars now— for our
messiest event of the year!! Mud day will be
Thursday, May 13, 2010.
We are bringing in mud to play with, scoop up, build
with, roll in, slide on, apply, jump over, measure,
“cook”, squish in toes, etc. etc.!
This will be a fun day, but your
child will get dirty. Please dress them in old play
clothes, include a change of clothes for afterwards,
a towel, and a grocery bag for dirty clothes. Also,
I will be contacting the Mud Day Committee members
soon, but if you would like to help out on that day,
please see Ginny. We need many hands to help with
set up and clean up and throughout the day.
